OpenAir St. Gallen – fairy lights for 30,000 visitors every day
Safety meets atmosphere: MAX HAURI impressively illuminated the OpenAir St. Gallen with 3,300 metres of outdoor fairy lights.
OpenAir St. Gallen is one of Switzerland's best-known music festivals, pulling around 30,000 visitors per day to Sittertobel. In addition to safety and orientation, the festival organisers also wanted to create an atmospheric design for the main traffic routes.
MAX HAURI was commissioned to supply a tailor-made lighting solution for this event: robust outdoor fairy lights in two versions – 25x E27 ILLU5X13, 26.5 m, type 11, IP55 and 15x E27 ILLU5X13, 16.5 m, type 11, IP55. A total of around 3,300 metres of fairy lights were used. The decisive factors in the choice were the IP55 protection class – dust-proof and jet-proof – and a convincing price-output solution.
The result: continuous basic lighting of the main axes, which visually connects the entire festival site like a “red thread”. Visitors benefited from greater safety and, at the same time, an atmospheric ambience. The feedback from the organiser was consistently positive.
With a total of 120,000 visitors over four days, the installation proved to be a viable and sustainable solution – and impressively demonstrated how technology, functionality and atmosphere can go hand in hand.
